July 2010: Let Freedom Ring

We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.  ~William Faulkner

Happy Independence Day to the people of the United States of America. And to the global community may the premise and the promise of freedom activated by the courage, strength and destiny of all who walk and have walked on this land send out ripples into the mass consciousness and set the template for liberty for all.

It does not escape me that this land of freedom was founded on the backs of slaves. This is not as ironic as it may seem. Because in many ways that is what we all have been: slaves. We are all slaves to something until we have completed the process of reclaiming our free will. I hear people say that they don't believe we really do have free will. And I would have to agree with that statement to a large extent given the current understanding of free will and it's true power.

We have the mistaken notion that free will means we can do whatever we want. My definition of free will is that you are free to align ALL the wills - the will of nature (your body), the will of humans (your mind) and the will of God (divine purpose) and remember who you are...to discover that there is another will inside of you...a larger and greater will...yet it is a part of you and not oustide of you...that has a destiny to fulfill....and in fact this will, this intention is what spawned you into being.

The day you become aware of this will, is the day you have opened the lock on the cage of your being. The rest of the time we spend convincing ourselves it is safe to come out of the cage. This nurturing is the price that we pay (not really much of a price, since it gives us back so much more than we give!) for our freedom. Our ability to be free is not only a state of being, it is a practice. We must practice freedom in order to maintain it and experience it. Ultimately the experience of freedom demands that we take 100% responsibility for our life. As we gather the strength to do so, we move further and further from the tyranny of our mind and deeper into the temple of our soul. It is here that we find the one for whom the bell tolls and freedom rings.

FREEDOM AFFIRMATIONS
I am free to be myself.
I have the courage and strength to claim my free will.
I align my will with the will of my higher self.
My soul has been set free.
I practice freedom, by tending to my soul.
I love life and life loves me.
I tap into the river of my destiny.
I chose this life and I honor that choice.
I honor and respect the will of my body.
My boundaries and clear communication create a safe space.
I am a force for good to be reckoned with.
I am a part of the eternal will to good.
The universe is conspiring on my behalf.
It is by my purified and unified will that I set my mind in motion.
The will of my mind, the will of my body, the will of my soul are one with the will of God.
I gladly pay the price for freedom through the eternal vigilance of the desires of my soul.
I set myself free.
I am free to express from the deepest parts of my being.
I am free to fulfill my destiny.
I chose my destiny before I was born and have everything I need to realize my divine mission.
I am all for one and one for all.
I surrender to my soul which leads me to the light.
I free the dragon within and tame it's spirit to serve my higher calling.
I allow the phoenix within me to rise up out of the ashes.
I step into my highest calling.
I remember who and what I am.
I embrace right livelihood.
My body is a vehicle for freedom and the actualization of my dreams.
I dream myself awake to all that I am.
